A Walk in the Woods
Written on November 21, 2012 at 5:30 am, by thelittlehenhouse
I’m back on the island this week. I know, “Weren’t you just there?” In a word: Yes. It will be my last trip for the foreseeable future, so I’m making the most of it.
Also? I know I used to tell stories and stuff, but these days I don’t have much to say.… Read More
All Good Things Must Come to an End

I got back from my trip last week. You may not have noticed, but my blog has been at a complete standstill. I’ll get back into the swing of things but, for now, I still feel like I’m here:
I’ll be back. I just need a second to catch my breath.… Read More
There’s No Place Like Yome
Written on July 17, 2012 at 5:30 am, by thelittlehenhouse
I keep saying I’m going to write about it and well, it’s about freaking time I did!
So, the girls and I are living in what you would call a “yome” for the summer. It’s a geodesic dome/yurt hybrid. See? Yome. Make sense.
I’ve been trying to take pictures of the yome so you can get an accurate idea of what kind of structure we are living in, but it’s really hard to capture the essence of the yome.… Read More
Island Life: Cowgirls in the Making

I’m a little behind on posting these days, but life behind the scenes at The Little Hen House is moving along nicely.
While it’s safe to say that every little girl dreams of having a pony at one time or another, the actual ideal might be having a friend with one instead:
Before you start thinking it’s all roses over here, some things remain unchanged.… Read More
Island Life: The Internet, the Magical School Bus and the Nudist
Written on June 7, 2012 at 5:30 am, by thelittlehenhouse
So, last week’s attempt at posting video was a major FAIL. (I’m still working on getting it working, BTW.) I’ve searched the island high and low for the best internet connections and I’m happy to report that I have found two fairly reliable spots. Sure, one doesn’t have a lick of cell service but at this point, beggars can’t be choosers, you know what I’m saying?… Read More
Island Life: Around the Campfire
Written on May 31, 2012 at 5:30 am, by thelittlehenhouse
As mentioned earlier this week, there is some great music happening just outside the confines of my workspace (more on that another day). I was finally able to upload video onto YouTube (it only took 10 minutes!) and I’m thrilled that I finally get to share it with you today.… Read More
Next Stop: Crazy Town
Written on May 17, 2012 at 5:30 am, by thelittlehenhouse
Ok. This post is going to be kind of short because I’m having kind of a 9-1-1 situation here at The Little Hen House.
I’ve written about it plenty of times, so most of you should know about my happy place by now, but the girls and I just solidified plans to go there for almost the entire summer.… Read More
2 Year Olds are Awesome

Normally, today would be a Dr. Mom Mondays post, but Dr. Mom is out of town. And since I am currently stuck at the airport waiting for a delayed flight, I thought I would use this time to catch you up on some of the recent happenings here at The Little Hen House.… Read More
Rewind

I’ve been thinking a lot about my childhood lately. Maybe it’s because my kids are getting older or maybe it’s the nostalgic sentiment that the holidays always seem to stir up, but my mind keeps wandering back to the memories of my youth. Of long, warm summer days, cut off jean shorts, bare feet, slumber parties, Lisa Frank stationary and Garfield comics.… Read More
My Vacation in Photos
Written on November 9, 2011 at 4:31 am, by thelittlehenhouse
Well, I’ve been home from my happy place for a week now. And while I can’t say I’m 100% mentally back, I think I’m ready to start blogging again. I’ve had this weird bloggy block since I’ve been home, and given that also turned right around and flew right to San Francisco for work, I feel sort of drained.… Read More
