Yesterday I traveled by myself with my two children.
The flight started out a little rough:
Which translates to about 3 hours of this:
Check out those alligator tears!
And then: O.M.G. Land!
Hello Seattle!
And then we waited in a line of Prius taxis:
Does it get any cuter than that? I mean, really.
And then we got my parents boat car out of storage:
I mentioned I was alone with my 4-year old and 1.5-year old, right?
And then we headed north:
Goodbye Seattle!
We stopped for some trans fats and high fructose corn syrup:
Yes, that’s a chicken nugget in the baby’s mouth. Don’t judge.
And then the shit hit the fan:
Which translates to about 1.5 hours of the most epic meltdown in the history of freak outs.
This is when I had to go find my happy place and just stay there.
And then we waited for the ferry. In the rain. In the car. For two hours.
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.
I’m so happy in my happy place…..
And then we finally boarded the ferry:

Get me out of this effing car!
And off we went:
We watched the islands go by:
And then watched some more.
Until we reached our final destination:
The skies were gray and rain was lightly falling.
And then the sun came out.
This is my happy place.
I’ll be blogging from my happy place until next week, so stay tuned for more pictures and musings from where I go to escape.
Oh, and have you entered my Rodan + Fields skincare giveaway yet? It ends tonight!

You are my hero! I would have had to consume so much Valium and booze to get through that day that I would have had to have a nurse and driver with me! You rock, Cous! Enjoy your happy place!!!!

Yay for happy places! Yuck for meltdowns. And a chicken nugget every now and then never hurt anyone (well, except the chicken.)

That looks positively painful! Kudos to you for not completely losing your mind. We are going to Disney in March and I'm afraid. Very afraid. Hope you have a relaxing week!

You're cute even in the midst of an epic meltdown. But that did not look like any kind of "fun" on this planet. Or universe.
You've earned a break for sure so enjoy your happy place.
(And I'm NOT talking about McDonald's. Probably.)
XO

You're brave to travel alone w/two! I took my older one (4) to Seattle alone this spring and it was wonderful. It is one of the most beautiful places in the US (esp when it isn't raining!)

That looks like quite the happy place.
I've yet to fly with my little hellions, but I'm not looking forward to the first time I do . . . they're both quite capable of some epic throw-downs, with crocodile tears aplenty.
I am, however, looking forward to your tales from your happy place.

Ah, the joys of melt downs
We have had our fair share of those! Enjoy your beautiful happy place! Please take lots of photos because it's gorgeous there.
(PS–no judging from this mommy…chicken nuggets are our friends when it comes to making baby happy!)

Ah, wish I'd known – I would have waved to you! (Or given you a ride to get your parents' car!) Hope you have a great time.

Seattle rocks such a beautiful city besides the rain. Nothing wrong with a chicken nugget here and there. Enjoy your happy place.

And I thought traveling with just one was hard. Glad you made it safe and sound and with your humor intact.
Have a wonderful visit with your family.

Wow…I am so sorry. I felt bad enough for you after the airplane ride, but then waiting TWO HOURS for the ferry with an unhappy baby?!!!…Congratulations for not curling up in a ball and crying (unless you left that part out). Plus, I'm so glad you gave your child a chicken nugget. Don't get me wrong, I try to eat well and feed my kids well, but after seeing that you eat gluten-free/sugar-free almost all the time…I was afraid I was going to have to stop reading your blog! =) Just kidding…or am I??? Have a great time! And I hope the trip back is more fun for your little one. A happy baby means a happy mommy! =)
