There has been a lot of talk about what to wear to the BlogHer ’11 conference in August (one of the largest blogging conferences in the country). I attended a more intimate blogging conference earlier this year and wrote a simple tutorial about blog conference style, which gives basic guidelines for how to dress for a blog conference. And I am also attending BlogHer ’11 this year, as it’s being held within a stone’s throw from my house. Squee!

A few days ago, my bloggy friend Erin (from My Little Miracles) was asking me for BlogHer ’11 wardrobe advice. It’s not like I’m a personal stylist or anything, but I did go to fashion school, worked several retail jobs, and I am a total fashion whore who lives for a bargain. What I’m trying to say is- she’s pretty safe in my hands. I totally feel like Stacy London from What Not to Wear- Shut up!

Well, instead of giving her generic outfit ideas, I created seven looks for her based on her specifications:

  • Budget- $200 for one or two solid outfits.
  • Must be able to wear bra.
  • Simple.
  • Wants to be able to coordinate with already-owned polka dot flats.
  • Likes to show off legs.
  • Comfortable shoes- no stilettos, but can tolerate wedges.
  • No flowy shirts- she is large chested and they look like tents.

Her preferences aren’t that different than a lot of moms. Most of us live on a tight budget, like to be comfortable, show off our best assets, and want to look cute and put together but not look like we are trying too hard.

I created a series of inspiration boards on Pinterest for her, and you can see them all here. If you click on the pictures of the clothing items (on Pinterest, not on here) it will take you to the website where these items can be purchased. All the clothing items I selected are very moderately priced, except the jeans. I have owned those jeans for years and they are magical. They are worth every penny. Trust me.

Shall we get started?

A big thank you to Erin for letting me torture her!
